Dina Donohue-Chase, Kristin Krok, and Beth Marks) was invited by Easter Seals to present on increasing awareness around health promotion among both community agencies and individuals with I/DD—and spread the message that health promotion is everyone’s responsibility within an organization regardless of job description. The team will discuss HealthMatters Program, a health promotion program for individuals with I/DD and how it can be used to build capacity within an organization and among individuals served to increase healthy lifestyles and decrease health disparities.

People with developmental disabilities have the least health programming and highest levels of preventable secondary chronic health conditions in the nation. The prevailing myth is that people with DD are unhealthy because they have a disability.
This webinar presents evidence that people with disabilities can learn to improve their health. Additionally, integrating health promotion for individuals, DSPs and other employees increases organizational success.
