RRTCADD Becomes a Special Olympics Regional Collaborator
The RRTCADD is pleased to be a Regional Collaborating Center for Special Olympics International (SOI). We join an international network of educational and research institutes that are developing innovative supports for athletes with intellectual disabilities and documenting their effectiveness and impact on Special Olympics program outcomes. The RRTCADD will work with SOI to update and enhance its application process for grants to local Special Olympics organizations to establish community-based health promotion programs. The RRTCADD will use its health promotion research expertise to assist local Special Olympics grantees implement and evaluate program outcomes. SOI is co-funding the RRTCADD’s longitudinal study of health behaviors and is assisting with sample recruitment. Our organizations will use these project results to advocate for health promotion and medical care programs to enhance the lives of people with developmental disabilities.
